Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid Augmentin Adult: 250-500 mg PO q8h B-lactam antibiotic w/ B-lactamase inhibitor Spectrum. Augmentin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. Augmentin is contraindicated in patients with a history ofallergic reactionsto any penicillin. It is also contraindicated in patients with a previous history of Augmentin-associated cholestatic jaundice/hepaticdysfunction Abdominal discomfort, allergic reactions, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, nausea, hyperactivity, drowsiness.  Evaluate for infection, use barrier contraception, Monitor for S&S of a rash (usually occurring within a few days after start of drug) suggestive of a hypersensitivity reaction. If it occurs, look for other signs of hypersensitivity (fever, wheezing, generalized itching, dyspnea), and report to physician immediately.

Report onset of generalized, erythematous, maculopapular rash (ampicillin rash) to physician.
