Augmentin is the combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanate, which is the best antibiotic to treat infection through bacteria. Some of the bacterial infections this antibiotic can treat are- sinusitis, pneumonia, ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and others. It is recommended for both humans and animals. However, it is crucial to stay updated about the Augmentin dosage for both humans and animals. Doctors recommend consuming the medicine at the start of the meal. This minimizes the possible chances of gastrointestinal intolerance.

Adults

The usual Augmentin dosage for adults is one 500-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 12 hours or one 250-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 8 hours. In case you are suffering from severe infection on the respiratory tract, the dosage will be one 875-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 12 hours or one 500-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN every 8 hours. If you have difficulty in swallowing the pill, then 125 mg/5 mL or 250 mg/5 mL suspension in place of the 500-mg tablet administered.

However, it would help if you kept in mind that two 50-mg tablets of Augmentin are not replaceable with one 500-mg tablet of Augmentin. Both the 250-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN and the 250-mg chewable tablet do not contain the same amount of clavulanic acid.
