The Nurse Practitioner Industry: Trends, Facts & Figures

By Bijay Rawat 1 year ago Health

As the healthcare industry continues to grow, so does the demand for nurse practitioners (NPs). Nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) who have completed graduate-level education and training in a specialty area of nursing. Nurse practitioners provide a wide range of services, including patient education, disease prevention, and primary and specialty care. The nurse practitioner industry is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.

According to the National Centre for Health Workforce Analysis, the number of nurse practitioner lists is projected to grow from approximately 208,000 in 2016 to nearly 283,000 by 2025, a compound annual growth rate of 4.8%. This growth is largely driven by the Affordable Care Act, which has expanded access to healthcare, and the aging Baby Boomer population, which is living longer and requiring more health services. There are several factors that are driving the growth of the nurse practitioner industry.

First, the Affordable Care Act has expanded access to healthcare, which has increased the demand for nurse practitioners. Second, the aging Baby Boomer population is living longer and requiring more health services. And finally, the shortage of primary care physicians is leading more patients to seek care from nurse practitioners. The nurse practitioner industry is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. This growth is largely driven by the Affordable Care Act, which has expanded access to healthcare, and the aging Baby Boomer population, which is living longer and requiring more health services.
